A nice post from Martin Sykes. He photographed this horse while on a morning walk along the Erewash Canal today after hearing the owner’s story.

Saw a young lady carrying two buckets from this field to the canal.
There water was frozen which meant she had to break the ice on the canal to give her horse a drink.
She told me that she snd a friend had found this rescue horse on the Tesco car park in ilkeston in a terrible state – all ribs and skin.
They took the horse to their farm, loved and cared for it and brought it back to as it is today.
I simply said, “well done – I’m proud of you and a Happy New Year,”
