Seven care homes run by Derbyshire County Council are at risk of closure, it has just been announced.
If approved, the move would affect nearly 200 elderly and vulnerable residents and more than 300 staff.
Two of the homes are in Erewash:
Ladycross Care Home, Travers Road, Sandiacre,
and Beechcroft Care Home, Nursery Avenue, West Hallam.
The others are:
East Clune Care Home, West Street, Clowne;
The Spinney Care Home, Woodlands, Brimington, Chesterfield;
Holmlea Care Home, Waverley Street, Tibshelf;
Goyt Valley House Care Home, Jubilee Street, New Mills;
Gernon Manor Care Home, Dagnall Gardens, Bakewell.
Helen Jones, strategic director adult social care and health at Derbyshire County Council said “It is really regrettable that we find ourselves in this position, because it is going to be a really worrying time for residents, their loved ones and for staff, but there is great concern about the state of the buildings.
Erewash MP Maggie Throup has pledged to fight against the proposal.
