Time is ticking . . .
Residents who will be on holiday or working away for next month’s general election still have time to apply for a postal vote.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is Tuesday 26 November at 5pm. When voting by post, the ballot papers are posted out to the elector who can then return the completed papers in the envelope provided.
In addition, residents who are unable to get to the polling station on Thursday 12 December also have the option of appointing a proxy to cast their vote on their behalf at the designated polling station. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 4 December.
Any Erewash residents wanting to apply for any of the above should contact the Borough Council’s elections team by email electreg@erewash.gov.uk or call 0115 907 1190.
To be able to vote in the forthcoming election, the first December Parliamentary Election in nearly a century, residents must be registered on the electoral register by Tuesday 26 November.
Anyone who failed to register in the recent canvass, has recently moved house or moved into the borough must take action before the deadline.
