You may not be able to name the year this photo was taken but if you are an Ilkestonian you will definitely know the month – the showmen’s caravans give it away.
With the Annual Charter Fair approaching, Danny Corns has sent us some interesting ‘away from the rides’ pictures for the paper..
This memory-reviving snap shows White Lion Square (roughly where the Health Centre is now). To the right you can see people waiting for a bus.by the advertising boards. In the background is the Premier Ballroom at the bottom of Market Street.
The picture was thought to be taken in the early 1960s, October of course.
