Ilkeston Swimmers Compete at the East Midlands Regional Championships
A group of 10 Ilkeston Swimming Club (ISC) members competed at the 2019 Regional Swimming Championships held at Corby International Pool and Sheffield Ponds Forge, with 5 ISC and 5 ISC/Derventio Excel swimmers, a total of 18 finals and 3 medals. There were also a high percentage of personal best times (pbs) achieved across the swimmers as follows:
Fred Buckingham with 11 qualifying times, 5 finals and pbs
Erin Pickard with 3 qualifying times and pbs
Arwen Moore with 2 qualifying times and pbs
Erica Beharall with 2 qualifying times
Eja Coe with 13 qualifying times, 6 finals, 3 silvers for 200im, 400im, 200fly and pbs
Caoimbhe Kirkland with 3 qualifying times and pbs
Leo Allanson with 9 qualifying times and pbs
Joshua Bestwick with 1 qualifying time
Lewis Brown with 4 qualifying times and pbs
James Wright with 11 qualifying times, 6 finals and pbs.
With some of the swimmers gaining their first ever qualifying regional times, it was great to see them manage their nerves and swim with confidence.
The hard training continues with more competitions in June/July and the Club Championships in September.
