A sporting weekend

The Erewash Triathlon and Erewash Half Marathon, two of the biggest and most popular events in the borough’s sport and health calendar, return for another summer sporting weekend.

The Erewash Half Marathon takes place on Saturday 10 August starting at Langley Mill and follows a mostly flat and traffic free route via canal towpaths to the finish line at West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton. Runners can find out more and enter online at www.erewashhalf.com

Erewash Triathlon is back for its 12th year and is open to athletes age 15 and above and all abilities. This year’s event takes place on Sunday 11 August and kicks off with a 400m swim at West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton, followed by a 16km bike ride before competitors complete the event with a 5km run within West Park.

The Triathlon is organised by Stuweb Event Management in partnership with Erewash Borough Council. Entries are open now at www.erewashtri.com

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead, Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“We are proud to once again host the triathlon and half marathon in Erewash for this weekend of sport. I know the runners and triathletes who take part train so hard to achieve their personal best and they are an inspiration to all of us. Good luck to all involved!”
