Steampunk adventurers!
Visitors will have the chance to delve into the weird and wonderful world that is Steampunk when Erewash Museum hosts its first Steampunk Extravaganza on Saturday 15 June.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Described as ‘a splendiferous emergence of time travelling Victorians’, activities on the day will include live performances, Steampunk, re-enactors, a fire breather and much more.
Hosted by Steampunk at the Wig, Lincoln, in partnership with Retford Steampunks, the event runs from 10am-4pm.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“This is a truly unique event for our award winning museum, blending different genres together to make for an amazing spectacle of fashion, science and technology. It will be a real sight to behold and looks set to be an extremely popular day for all the family.”
Erewash Museum is in Ilkeston Town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm, and Monday to Saturday during school holidays. Admission is free. Contact 0115 907 1141, email museum@erewash.gov.uk or visit the Facebook page /erewashmuseum
