ELEANOR HAS PRIZE IN HER SIGHTS

A delighted ten-year-old from West Hallam has her eyes on the prize after winning a national colouring competition in aid of charity.

Eleanor Attenborough won a set of books by children’s favourite David Walliams in the Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care competition and received her prize at its Ilkeston branch.

Youngsters were encouraged to submit their creative designs with proceeds from the £1 entry fee going to Alzheimer’s Society.

Emma Stevenson, manager of the Bath Street branch, said: “Alzheimer’s Society is our chosen charity and this was a fun way to engage children and raise awareness of its work. Eleanor’s vibrant entry was a worthy winner.”

Mother Joanne said: “Eleanor was ecstatic. She enters quite a few competitions but never really wins. She loves drawing and reading and writing and is a big fan of David Walliams.”

Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society as its chosen charity for a fifth successive year because there is evidence of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.

The family business, which was established in 1938, has 181 stores in England and Wales and over 1,100 employees.
