Erewash Borough Council’s joint building control service looks set to expand further – by taking on the responsibilities for Mansfield District Council.

The Erewash team has already been providing a building control service for neighbouring Broxtowe Borough Council since 2015, a move which has delivered better value-for-money services for council tax payers in both authorities.

Now a meeting of Council Executive next week (19 February) is expected to give the go-ahead for Erewash to take on the building control work for Mansfield from 1 April this year.

Councillor Michael Powell, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Regeneration and Planning, says:

“This is a great example of how, through pro-active partnership working, local authorities can build on and improve services provided. Expanding and promoting a joint building control service across what will be three local authority areas is an excellent customer service approach – it’s a very efficient way of working.”

The meeting of Council Executive is at Long Eaton Town Hall on Tuesday 19 February at 10.30am.
