Maggie plants Commonwealth Canopy
Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash was joined by members of ‘Friends of Victoria Park’ to plant five trees as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project.

The trees are a mixture of Birch, Rowan and Hazel and have been planted in an area being developed as a wildflower meadow.

Maggie commented:

“I was delighted to be able to plant the trees in Victoria Park to add to the amazing array of plants of all sizes and colours already there.

“It was great to have the help of the ‘Friends of Victoria Park’ and to identify a suitable area.

“It’s also very appropriate to plant the trees which will form part of our current Queen’s tree canopy in the Erewash park named after a previous queen.

“I am really looking forward to seeing how the trees are growing every time I visit Victoria Park.”
