Cancer Research is a charity close to the heart of Hallam Fields Junior School. It has impacted on the life of staff, children, parents and families over recent years. Because of this children and staff showed amazing support to the events organised.
The whole school took part in a race for life event by running laps around the school field, with each mile taking four laps. The children were organisedthroughout the day in year groups to run as many laps as possible and allowed to wear pink, blue or face paint, in support of Cancer Research. The whole school supported and encouraged each other to run as many laps as possible, showing pride and determination. Overall the children ran an amazing 2,611 laps, which totaled 652 ¾ miles.
Members of staff (The Pink Ladies of Hallam Fields) also took part in an organised ‘Race for Life’ event to add to the fundraising.
In total, with gift aid donations included, the school has raised a total of over £4700, an amazing achievement by all.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Healy and Miss Godridge for organising the event and for Ilkeston Tesco’s Community Champion Angie Young for supporting the school on the day and providing refreshments and prizes.
