Sad news…
It seems the Ilkeston Salvation Army hall on Chapel Street has been infiltrated by drug users and trashed.
We have been told that entry was forced through the back door after removing boards.
Someone living close by who investigated when he heard noises says: “It is absolutely covered in graffiti inside… and the lights were all on… and the place stank of human excrement.”
He phoned the police and they told him “an ambulance had been sent as there was a man unconscious inside.”
The hall has been closed and boarded up for two and half years following the closure of the Ilkeston Corps. It has had a for sale board on it until recently.
What a shame that such a beautiful sacred building has been desecrated in this way.
