New homes in Erewash

Eight flats and four houses for affordable rent have been completed at Bridge Street in Sandiacre.

Erewash Borough Council has worked closely with social housing and care provider emh group, who built the properties as part of a programme of developments in the area and will manage them through its social landlord emh homes.

Consultation with local occupational therapists ensured the ground floor flats are suitable for older people and people with some mobility problems. The flats include wet rooms or walk-in showers, space to charge electric scooters and wheelchairs, car ports and their own patio areas.

A total of 12 families and individuals now have a new affordable home making it a worthwhile project and good use of the land.

Councillor Gerri Hickton, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Community Engagements, says:

“We are delighted to see this housing development move forward to provide affordable homes, for families and older people. Our planning and housing services teams have worked closely with emh to build homes that meet the needs of Erewash residents.”

Chan Kataria, Chief Executive for emh group, says:

“We are very pleased to consolidate our partnership with this important development to
provide much needed affordable homes in the area.”
