Music lovers are invited to enjoy a free performance by the Swindon Male Voice Choir and Derby’s award-winning harpist Laura-Rose Gee at a special fundraising concert for Treetops Hospice Care on Saturday 3 June.

The concert at St Mary’s Church in Derby, will include refreshments and a raffle for the local charity which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis.

Maria King, tour organiser for the Swindon Male Voice Choir said:

“The choir go on tour every couple of years and as well as promoting singing we like to raise money for good causes along the way.

“We are very, very pleased to support Treetops this year and hope to raise loads of money on the night. We think what they do is fantastic and such a good local cause.”

Laura-Rose, 17, has a Performance Diploma in Music and was awarded Derbyshire’s Inspirational Women’s Award in the under 25s category last year for performing to hospital patients, isolated pensioners and other who may benefit from her music.

Laura-Rose said:

“I am really looking forward to performing to support such a worthwhile charity. Treetops carries out some amazing work supporting local people who are affected by a life-limiting illness. I am honoured to offer my support by performing at the concert to help raise funds for this wonderful charity”.

Dan Booth, Treetops community fundraiser is looking forward to welcoming people on the night:

“The Swindon Male Voice Choir and Laura-Rose Gee have fantastic reputations for their music and performances so we urge people not to miss out on a really brilliant night -everyone’s welcome.

“It’s a free concert so we hope to raise money from serving refreshments, a raffle and donations – with all the proceeds going to Treetops.

“We want to say a big thank you to the Choir and Laura-Rose for giving up their time to support us and with their help, continue to provide our services in the local community.”

The concert begins at 7.30pm at the Parish Centre, St Mary’s Church, Derby DE1 3AX. Doors open at 7pm.
