A poet from Ilkeston has donated the proceeds from his book ‘Life In the Past Frame’ to a cancer care ward at The Royal Derby Hospital.
Steven Michael Pape met staff at the hospital recently to hand over £610.
He had dedicated the book of verse to his cousin Denise Roe who passed away in July last year after receiving treatment and support from the staff at the Nightingale Ward.
The book launch on 9th December also brought in money from a raffle and the sale of photographs.
Steven said he was grateful to his partner Vicky Foster who organised the raffle, Alan Davidson, book photographer and photographer on the night, and others who had made donations to the cause.
He commented: “ I wanted to raise funds to say thank you to the great staff on the Nightingale Ward who helped Denise and who continue to help others during their treatment, as well as their families. It’s a very positive place and I have nothing but admiration for the staff.”
