The Prime Minister has triggered Article 50 beginning the process of Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union and building a country that works for everyone in Erewash.

On Wednesday, Theresa May gave effect to the democratic decision of the people of the United Kingdom who voted decisively to leave the EU, as she leads the Conservative Government that is delivering our Plan for Britain. The plan means a fairer society where success is based on merit, not privilege, a stronger economy where everybody plays by the same rules, a united nation that we are proud to call home, and a global Britain that is outward-looking.

Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash said: “Conservatives have a plan to get the right deal for Britain abroad and a better deal for ordinary working people in Derbyshire. As the Government begins negotiations with our friends in Europe, we will provide as much certainty and clarity as we can at every stage.

“As the Member of Parliament for Erewash, I will provide regular updates to residents. The Government has launched planforbritain.gov.uk which sets out our 12 negotiating objectives as we build a deep and special partnership with the European Union once we leave.

“Our Plan for Britain will deliver a country that is stronger, fairer and with a truly global outlook.”
