Hundreds of chocolate eggs will be donated to worthy causes by a Derbyshire company this Easter.
Derbyshire based waste management company Ward, which has sites in Ilkeston, Swadlincote and Chesterfield, would like to hear from charities, hospices or any other organisations in the county that would benefit from a visit from the Ward Easter bunny.
Every year the company personally delivers a lorry load of chocolate eggs, with Ward written on in icing, to many of its customers as a token of appreciation. This year the company is going one stage further and has bought over 500 additional eggs to donate to people who wouldn’t otherwise get anything at Easter.
The company buys the Easter eggs from Derbyshire-based Thorntons and they are delivered to customers by the Ward drivers and managers around this time of the year.
Donald Ward, Commercial Manager of the family business, said: “We’ve been buying the Easter eggs to give our customers for around seven years now and each year we’re buying more and more eggs and reaching more people with our gift. Originally we started with just a few eggs but each year this number is growing by the hundreds.
“We’re really excited this year as we’ve decided to roll out our token of goodwill further. Ultimately we want to make people’s day. More than 80 million Easter eggs are sold in the UK alone each year but we still feel there are those that deserve an egg but may get missed. Ideally we’ll reach those people or good causes who may be ordinarily forgotten and the aim is putting a smile on everyone’s face this Easter.

Ward has already started delivering eggs to several charities in the local area and will be posting photos of their visits on its Facebook and Twitter page.
