Hit the greens for a charity golf bonanza

Golf players are being urged to avoid finding themselves bunkered . . . but to tee-off instead for a bumper Charity Golf Day being hosted by the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Abey Stevenson, in April!

Teams of keen golfers are needed for the special sporting day being held at the Erewash Valley Golf Club on Friday 28 April, with proceeds going to the Mayor’s charity pot from which donations will be made to local good causes at the end of his civic year.

Councillor Stevenson will host the annual prize-winning Golf Day and has this week called on local people to sign up for the competition – while local businesses can also help raise charity funds by sponsoring a hole for the day or donating raffle prizes.

The event will be a four person Stableford Am-Am Competition off three-quarters handicap, with the best two scores at each hole to count. There is a maximum handicap of 24 for men and 36 for women and prizes will be awarded for the winning, second and third placed teams, together with honours for the nearest the pin and nearest the pin in two.

The Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Stevenson, says:

“I hope as many people as possible will join me for what will be a fun and enjoyable day as well as a successful fundraising event for local charities.”

The fee is fixed at last year’s price of £160 per team, which includes tea/coffee prior to the game and a two-course meal at the conclusion of play. The presentation of prizes will take place at around 7.30pm.

Entry forms and more details are available from Erewash Borough Council’s Civic Support Office at Ilkeston Town Hall. Telephone 0115 9071115 or e-mail [email protected]
