Youngsters from across Ilkeston jumped to it at a trampolining festival held by Erewash School Sport Partnership.
Pupils were taught some basic moves and how to stay safe on a trampoline by coaches from Phoenix Trampoline Club.
They were also given a demonstration by club members at the festival, which was held at Kirk Hallam Community Academy.
Schools taking part included Ladywood Primary, Sawley Infant, Dallimore Primary, Mapperley Primary, Field House and Charlotte Infant.
Amy Lind, from Ladywood Primary, said her pupils were excited to take part in the event.
She said: “We’ve never been to a trampoline festival before and as it can be quite an expensive sport we thought this was a good opportunity for some of our pupils to give it a go.
“They were all very excited about coming and these trampolines are probably much bigger than ones they’ve been on before.
“It’s great to have the Phoenix coaches here and really what we hope is that this will give them a bit of inspiration and it might be something they consider trying again.”
The session was held by Erewash School Sport Partnership in conjunction with Phoenix Trampoline Club, based in Ilkeston, with support from sports leaders at Kirk Hallam Community Academy.
Adam White, head coach at Phoenix, said the festival was about introducing pupils to trampolining.
He said: “They went through the basics with the coaches learning moves like straddles, tucks and pikes.
“They also learnt how to land safely because that’s where a lot of accidents can happen on trampolines at home. Hopefully they enjoyed themselves and gained a bit of confidence.”
Rhian Lilley, Erewash School Sport Partnership development manager, said all the youngsters had thoroughly enjoyed the festival.
She said: “Our trampolining festival has become very popular and it was great to see so many faces there. It’s a brilliant opportunity for pupils to try something different and hopefully they left feeling inspired and some of them might consider going along to a club.”
