Ilkeston Town Centre

Award winning floral displays in Ilkeston and Long Eaton town centres over the summer and a new summertime ‘beach’ at Erewash Museum proved a big hit with residents and are two of the reasons they got in touch to praise Erewash Borough Council.

The council records the compliments it receives and over the last quarter – covering July to September – there was a significant increase in the number of residents sending their thanks.

The council’s Green Space and Pride in Erewash teams received many compliments for the floral displays and for their work that brought success in the East Midlands in Bloom awards for Ilkeston and Long Eaton.

Thousands of people visited Erewash Museum during the summer to enjoy the first ever ‘Beach’ that was installed in the museum’s garden and they were quick to say how much they enjoyed it – particularly giving thumbs up and compliments on social media.

Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagements, says:

“We all know how nice it is when someone takes the time to say ‘thank you’, ‘well done’ or compliment us on a job well done. Getting a compliment gives a real boost to our council teams so we want to send our thanks now to those residents who did take the time to get in touch.”

The council monitors all the comments, compliments and complaints that it receives from its customers. In the latest quarter compliments were up by 4% on the same period last year with 142 received and complaints down by 41%, with 125 received.
