Erewash MP Maggie Throup has welcomed the Autumn Statement and has renewed her call for a new Junction 25a of the M1 following the announcement of a further £1.1 billion investment in local transport network by the Chancellor.

Speaking about the Statement Maggie said:

“Today’s Autumn Statement reaffirms this Government’s commitment to providing economic stability, something which will increasingly be important as we begin the process of leaving the EU.

“In particularly I welcome the announcement by the Chancellor that he is making an extra £1.1 billion available to improve the UK’s transport network as well as an addition £220 million to tackle pinch points on strategic roads.

“This new investment is exactly what is needed to address the chronic problem of congestion which is all too familiar to Erewash motorists and gives a huge boost to my campaign for a new Junction 25a of the M1.

“Local residents can be reassured that I will be banging on the door of the Transport Secretary over the coming weeks and months, to secure our fair share of this new funding.”
