Quarterpipes, jumpbox, pole jam and volcano spine . . . just some of the top quality challenges that will be enjoyed by young sports fans when the new £130,000 wheeled sports park opens in Kirk Hallam.

Work will get underway shortly and Erewash Borough Council hopes that the exciting new facility at Kirk Hallam Playing Fields will be open by September.

Residents, young people and students from the local primary and senior schools worked with the council to choose their favourite design for the skatepark, which will feature more than 20 challenges.

Skateboarders, in-line skaters and scooter through to BMX riders will all be able to use the facility, which has been funded by the council, Kirk Hallam Big Local and WREN, a not-for-profit business that awards grants to community projects.
