A colourful parade, music, dance and lots of family fun . . . it must be carnival time in Ilkeston again!

This year’s 26th Ilkeston Lions Carnival takes place on Saturday 11 June with the traditional parade of floats and marching band leaving Belfield Street at 12.30pm and travelling up Bath Street, through the Market Place and down to the Rutland Recreation Ground.

Organised by Ilkeston Lions Club, the annual event is always a great family day out as onlookers watch the parade and then enjoy the entertainment at the carnival showground.

The carnival site will be open from 12noon and includes lots of stalls and things to do, vintage cars and a whole range of family entertainment in the arena.

The ever-popular tug of war competition will also be held throughout the afternoon and teams of five can enter on the day – with a £50 prize up for grabs.
