A brand new FA affiliated Football Youth League gets underway at Rutland Sports Park in Ilkeston at the end of this month.

The new league will provide five-a-side football for young males aged 16 to 21 years on Fridays between 7pm and 9pm and will start on 30 October for eight weeks.

Launched by Erewash Borough Council, there is a £5 registration fee per team and then an introductory offer of £5 per team, per week to take part. There can be up to eight players in a squad.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“Our ‘goal’ is to continue with our on-going commitment to promote a more active lifestyle for everyone and this new FA-affiliated Youth League is a perfect example of that. We expect it to score highly with football fans so we would urge interested teams to register as soon as possible.”

There will be a presentation night at the end of the eight-week run, with trophies and prizes to be won.

Players and teams must be registered by Tuesday 27 October. Team registration forms are available from Rutland Sports Park, West End Drive, Ilkeston or email kevin.hatton@erewash.gov.uk for an electronic copy.
