Residents who still need to supply details for their right to vote are being urged to register the information as soon as possible.
More than 26,000 reminder forms are now being hand delivered to people within Erewash asking them to confirm their details are correct or to make any changes.
Erewash Borough Council has issued a plea for those people to take action now ahead of the start of a door knocking phase at the end of October when home visits will be made to anyone who has still not supplied the information.
The Household Enquiry Forms are aimed at keeping the electoral register up to date and to ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote is on the register.
Residents eligible to vote must be on the register to be able to vote in elections, while local authorities have to check and update the register every year.
Councillor Carol Hart, Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, says:
“If a reminder drops through your letterbox, we urge you to take action straight away – please don’t put the form to one side and forget about it. The forms give clear instructions on what to do.”
Residents can confirm their details are correct or make changes at www.register-online.co.uk when they will need the 10 digit security code and password that are printed on their form.
