Erewash Museum hosts a visit by a real Viking next week when Norseman Bjarni Thordvaldrson makes a one-day stopover to chat to youngsters on Friday 21 August between 11am-3pm.
Bjarni will be at the Museum to chat to youngsters about how the Vikings lived and what they ate – while some traditional weapons will also be on display. Children will also be able to have a go at coin striking for a small £1 charge, no booking is necessary.
The day will mark the end of a week of Viking-inspired crafts and activities at the Museum from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 August daily between 11am-3pm
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“The Vikings are always popular with children so our free drop-in crafts and activities are certain to be a big hit – and what a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to be able to meet and talk to a real Viking.”

Erewash Museum is just off the High Street in Ilkeston town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Admission is free and it is open Monday to Saturday during school holidays between 10am-4pm.
