Youngsters can get into the Caribbean rhythm with steel drum workshops at Erewash Museum on Monday (3 August) when the holiday fun centres on the summer melodies of the drum favourite.
The one-day workshops will be led by tutor Richard Arter and will feature up to 15 steel drums to give children some great hands-on experience of the steelpan instruments. The workshops are suitable for ages 5 and above and cost £1.50 per child.
The rest of the week – Tuesday 4 – Friday 7 August – sees the Museum host free drop-in sessions between 11am-3pm when children’s activities include making a jangle bracelet using bells.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

Erewash Museum is just off the High Street in Ilkeston town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Admission is free and it is open Monday to Saturday during school holidays between 10am-4pm.
