December 15, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:30 pm

Join in with the Winter Solstice celebrations in Ilkeston on Saturday 15 December as Erewash Borough Council’s Arts Development Team hold lantern-making workshop.

Workshops will be held at Erewash Museum from 12pm to 5pm and at Victoria Park from 3pm to 5pm.

The day will culminate with a beautiful lantern parade winding its way through the town from the museum to Victoria Park where there will be poetry, lanterns, story-telling and Morris dancing with Black Pig Border Morris.

The Lantern Parade takes place from 5.15pm to 6.30pm. People can meet at Erewash Museum at 5.15pm or wait by Victoria Park Bowling Pavilion where the parade will arrive at around 5.30pm.

Erewash Museum will also be holding a Winter Wonderland the same day between 11am and 3pm where children can meet Santa and his reindeers.

Admission is £1.50 for children including lantern making.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Leisure and Culture, says:

“What a lovely way to mark the shortest day of the year. The Winter Solstice lantern parade will look stunning weaving through the streets of the town, so join us if you can to celebrate this annual midwinter event.”
