All Things Ilkeston Every Month
Residents have the chance to find out more about Erewash Borough Council’s Swim Academy and the lessons available to people of all ages when Victoria Park Leisure Centre in Ilkeston and Long Eaton’s West Park Leisure Centre host Open Days.
Ilkeston’s Victoria Park Leisure Centre will hold their Open Day on Saturday 10 February between 10am and 12noon, and West Park Leisure Centre’s Open Day will be on Saturday 17 March between 10am and 12noon.
Places are available on the council’s swimming lesson programme at certain levels and can be booked at the events or enquiries are being taken now.
Swimming Development Officer Nicola Chamberlain will be on hand to talk to visitors about the swimming programme and offer advice on which lesson would be best for them. Lessons are all to the Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) International Learn to Swim Programme standard and start for babies from five months old with the STARFISH Award Scheme and the programme then features various stages through to the Shark 3 awards for more competent swimmers.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“We have a full range of lessons for adults and children, suitable for all standards from beginner upwards. Our Open Days will be very informal events and offer a great opportunity for people to drop in and have a chat to find out more.”
