Betty O’Neill sent us this picture she painted of the Ritz cinema, Ilkeston. An avid picture-goer, she used to visit as often as she could, including to the Saturday matinee at the Ritz as a young girl, where this scene was remembered. She recalls: Some of the kids misbehaved and had to be spoken to by the cinema manager, a tall commanding figure who would stop the film and turf out the culprits.
