On Saturday 15th August 600 free lunch bags were distributed across Erewash (and neighbouring areas) by local charity Every One Eats. The picnic bags had the theme ‘A Day Trip to the Seaside’ and included a stick of rock and candy floss as well as cobs, sausage rolls and cakes.
Three sing-along favourite holiday tunes were played on the same day after 3pm on Erewash Sound by presenter Nikki Fretwell. The words to Cliff Richard's We're all going on a Summer Holiday, etc., were printed in a booklet contained in the bag so everyone could join in if they wanted to.
A big ‘THANK YOU' to the volunteers – Lindsey, Paul, Rev Christine, Rev Caro, Simon, Lester, Zee, Paul, Michael, Jacqui, Lisa, Aimee, Rachel, Mike, Nicola, Geoff, Olivia, Billy, Norma and Margaret for making it happen!
Because of the fantastic feedback, kind donations (thank you to Chapman’s Bakery) and a grant from the National Lottery, the group plans to do another one at the end of September. To nominate someone just send a message to Every One Eats Facebook page.
