Awards to Celebrate Physical Activity
Nominations are now open for the borough’s first Active Lives in Erewash Awards – honours which will celebrate individuals, community groups and clubs that have helped change the lives of local people through physical activity.

The presentation of the awards will be on the 6 February next year and residents are being urged to nominate any group or individual they think deserves the tribute before the deadline of Friday 10 January.

Spearheaded by Erewash Borough Council’s Sport and Health Development Team, the awards feature 10 categories, which include:
• Active Young Persons Award – for a person aged 18 or under who has achieved significant change or success thanks to physical activity or a young person that has given something back into their community.

• Active Volunteer Award – for an individual who has devoted extra support in providing physical activity above what is expected to a group or project.

• Active Coach/Activator (voluntary or paid) Award – someone who has significantly given something back to a community in Erewash.

• Special Recognition Award – for someone who has made an outstanding contribution to sport and/or community above what is expected of them for a minimum of three years.

The other categories are a Project/ Initiative/ Innovation Award; the Legacy Leisure Adversity Award for someone who is active despite a limiting illness or disabilities; a Community Group/ Association/ Team of the Year Award; and an Active Partnership Award. The remaining two are an Active Lives Award for someone who has made a significant change to their health or physical activity over the last year; and an Active Place Award.
