Final Round of the Derbyshire Junior Grand Prix took place on Saturday 2nd November at Alfreton Leisure Centre and the youngsters taking part from Team Ilkeston were ready to go off like the fireworks over the bonfire weekend!
Some fantastic swims on the night, with our swimmers further implementing and improving upon techniques learnt in training and applying them into their races.
This is the first time some of these children have ever taken part in a competition and as a club it was great to watch them improve round after round during the series.
Highlight of the event was McKinley Cotton being crowned top girl for the second consecutive year.
Representing Team Ilkeston over all three rounds were:
9 year olds – Darcie Barker, Evie O’Niel, Emily Stone, Felicity Dobbs, Ronnie Archer and Sophia Bull.
10 year olds – Annie Poyner, Emmi Charlesworth and McKinley Cotton.
11 year olds – Alfie Brown, Freya Miller, Leo Charlesworth and Maisie Dorrington
Well done to all that took part, the future looks bright, hard work conquers everything!
