Ilkeston footballers net donation for new kit

A junior football team in Ilkeston is kicking off the season with a brand-new kit, following a donation from a Nottingham housebuilder.

Stanton Ilkeston Football Club under-10s Warriors received £1,000 from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.

The donation will fund a new kit as well as training equipment as the team enters its second football season.

Anthony Garbett, the team’s coach, said: “We are a self-funded team, with the players subs covering pitch hire and match day fees.

“We are very thankful for Persimmon Homes’ generosity. The team is delighted to be starting the season in a brand-new kit of their own and the new equipment will help us to progress the players skills.”

Neil Follows, managing director for Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We are delighted to be backing Stanton Ilkeston Football Club under-10s Warriors. We wish them great success in the new season.”

If people were previously unsuccessful in their Community Champions applications, they are urged to visit the Persimmon Homes website and try again.
