Cycle for health rides
Free led cycle rides have been launched by Erewash Borough Council to give residents the opportunity to be more active – with the weekly rides particularly suitable for beginners and less confident riders.

Organised by the council’s Sport and Health Development team the one-and-a-half hour rides take place every Wednesday, leaving from West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton at 6pm.

The led rides are for anyone aged 18 and over and bikes and helmets can be provided if needed. The rides are free but cyclists should book beforehand by emailing kevin.hatton@erewash.gov.uk or call 0115 907 2244.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“We have run these led cycle rides previously and they proved very popular. They are fun, sociable and, most importantly, they help to boost confidence and help towards a healthy lifestyle.”

Those taking part are advised to take a bottle of water with them and wear suitable clothing.
