Generous donation gratefully received by Ilkeston Community Hospital League of Friends.
Members of Ilkeston Community Hospital League of Friends recently gathered to receive a donation presented by representatives of Coppice Steam and Midland Events. The contribution of £1309.09 is the result of the Ilkeston public’s customary kindness who gave generously to the Coppice Steam volunteer team for what has become a fixture on the Ilkeston Christmas calendar, the Santa Bus. The event is one where Santa Claus is collected from his retreat using a classic vintage bus and brought to all areas of Ilkeston. Children (and like-minded others) were able to meet Santa over five evenings during the week leading up to Christmas Day and take the opportunity to give to him their Christmas wishes.
Clive Smedley and Alan King of Coppice Steam together with David Hoyles of Midland Events presented the cheque to members of The League of Friends during their February meeting. The League members expressed their gratitude to those volunteers who organised the event and collected the donations which are a welcome boost to the League’s efforts to support Ilkeston’s hospital.
