Council invests in mini bin lorry
Erewash Borough Council has invested in a mini-compacter vehicle to further improve its refuse and recycling service.

The truck is significantly smaller than the other waste collection vehicles used by the council for bin collections and can be used in streets where access can sometimes be a problem for the larger vehicles. The mini-compacter has already been used successfully at Byron Street in Ilkeston and Orchard Street in Long Eaton which are locations where the council frequently encounters access problems.

The mini-compacter adds to the council’s fleet of 15 refuse and recycling vehicles and will help minimise disruption to refuse collection services when the larger vehicles are unable to gain access to narrow streets. It will also reduce the number of revisits the council has to make to complete collections when access if prevented.

The vehicle will also be used for emptying litter bins in the borough and dealing with fly-tipping.
