Hundreds of schoolchildren enjoyed a series of athletics festivals organised by Erewash School Sport Partnership.
Rutland Sports Park in Ilkeston was the venue for the events which took place across a week and attracted youngsters of all ages from primary to secondary.
There was also a Special Educational Needs competition and a Small Schools event.
Pupils were given the opportunity to compete in relays, obstacle races and speed bounce along with various field events including soft javelin and long jump.
Sports leaders from Derby College supported the events. Hallam Fields Junior School won both the Year 3/4 and the Year 5/6 competitions while Shardlow Primary School triumphed in the Small Schools event.
Rhian Lilley, Erewash School Sport Partnership strategic director, said the Sportshall events were a fantastic opportunity for pupils across the borough.
She said: “These events are always one of the highlights of our calendar as they include so many children. They are also a great way to start the year.
“Children of all ages and abilities come together to take part in sport and there is something for everyone to try.
“The aim is to get young people moving and being more active and what better way to do it at an organised event with their friends.
“We hope that everyone enjoyed the festivals and judging by the amount of noise and the number of smiling faces we saw we are sure that they did!
“We would like to thank all of the pupils for their enthusiasm and the staff who brought them for supporting events like this. Well done to the sports leaders who helped us to run the events and ensure that everyone had a great time.”
