Commonwealth trees to be planted by royal appointment

Erewash MP Maggie Throup is asking local schools and community groups across Erewash to come forward with proposals of where to plant five new trees that have been donated by the Woodland Trust as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Scheme.
The initiative, which aims to increase the number of trees and wildlife across the country, will see MPs given five trees each to plant across their constituencies.
Commenting on the scheme, Maggie said:
“This is a fanatic opportunity for our community to get involved in this historic project. If you represent a local group or school and would like to suggest location where one of these tree saplings could be planted then please get in touch.”
The trees saplings to be planted will include hazel, rowan and silver birch.
For more information about the project or to suggest a location where one of the trees could be planted, contact Maggie on either maggie@maggiethroup.com or 0115 930 0521.
