We have received an interesting email as a follow-up to Betty O’Neill’s picture and article about Bostock’s Off-Licence in the May issue of Ilkeston Life.
In it, Margaret Turner (nee Henshaw) mentions an explosion at the Gasworks on Rutland Street, Ilkeston, which resulted in the cellar of her home next door being flooded and their live-in maid being drowned.
Does anyone else remember this?
