Folk Day Fun at Museum

Traditional folk music and Morris dancing will be part of the fun at a folk day at Erewash Museum on Saturday 14 April.

This brand new event takes place between 11am and 3pm when there will be a performance from two choirs, Morris dancing from Black Pig Border Morris, well-dressing workshops with Spiral Arts in the Hayloft (£1.50 per person) and an English folk traditions exhibition and trail throughout the museum.

The first choir to sing on the day will be Erewash Folk Choir – a special ‘pop-up choir’ that has been rehearsing for five weeks and makes its debut performance at the Folk Day. More than 25 people have taken part in this open-access choir. The second choir are Rough Truffles Community Choir, from Belper.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“This is set to be another great event at the museum and will give people an opportunity to get stuck in with making well dressings. The choirs have been busy rehearsing and I’m sure they will put on a performance to be proud of on the day.”
