Visitors invited to enjoy daffodils at Treetops
in this year’s National Garden Scheme
Local charity Treetops Hospice Care is welcoming visitors to explore its gardens and grounds on Saturday 24 March for the second year running in the popular National Garden Scheme.
The National Garden Scheme is the country’s biggest annual celebration of gardening and invites garden owners to open their exceptional gardens to the public to raise money for good causes.
On 24 March, from 11am to 3pm, the public will be able to visit the 12 acre site of woodland and grounds at Risley which boast thousands of daffodils and raised wheelchair walkways.
Sarah Butcher, who leads the volunteer ‘Garden Gang’, explained more:
“Treetops supported my family when my husband Tony was terminally ill several years ago. I wanted to help them in return so I became a volunteer.
“We have a great team who volunteer twice a week, every week of the year, to ensure the grounds look their best for our patients, visitors and staff – even in the face of the rather challenging weather we’ve had recently with the Beast from the East and a lot of rain!
“We’re very proud to open the garden and see it in the National Garden Scheme again this year. Last year we welcomed around 200 visitors and raised over £600 so this year we’d love to welcome even more people on the day.”
Admission is £3 per adult (free admission for children) and the entrance money goes to the National Garden Scheme which supports several national charities including Hospice UK.
Visitors to Treetops will be able to enjoy light refreshments including tea and coffee, soup and rolls and a plant and homemade preserves stand. Dogs on short leads are welcome.
Treetops Hospice Care services include Support and Information, a Day Care Unit, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
