Students collect donations for food bank
Students at Kirk Hallam Community Academy have handed over donations to a food bank in Ilkeston. Each form group was asked to bring in tinned or dried food over the collection period and these were then packed together by sixth form students and delivered to the Arena Church food bank.
Headteacher Mr Ebbage said, “We are pleased to be able to support the food bank with the important work it does and I would like to thank our students, their families and the staff who contributed to our collection.”
Launched in 2010 in response to an awareness of the number of people in the local community who were in need of emergency supplies, the food bank is just as important now as it was then.
Amelia Cumberland, pictured here with Sixth Form students Rosie Joy (Head Girl), Harry Gardiner (Head Boy) and Ainsley Elkington (Head Girl), added her thanks on behalf of the Arena Church food bank, “I’d like to say a big thank you to the students, parents and staff at Kirk Hallam Community Academy for this collection; it is gratefully received.”
