Erewash Borough Council is happy to announce that the new refreshment kiosk “Barefeet in the park” has opened in the restored bowls pavilion at Victoria Park, Ilkeston today (Thursday 1 June).

The kiosk will be open every day between 10 and 4pm and is another new facility for the Green Flag park that has seen significant improvements thanks to the £740,800 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Big Lottery Fund.

New business owner Gemma Worthington says:

“I am really excited to be able to open this kiosk. As a local mum I know how nice it can be to enjoy a cuppa in a park while my children are playing – or it’s equally nice to sit and take time out with a cake and a book. I am pleased to be offering that opportunity to Victoria Park’s visitors!”

The park’s Community Ranger Helen Mitchem adds:

“We’re sure the cakes and ice cream served by ‘Barefeet’ will add to the feelgood factor when visiting this lovely park. The kiosk is also a great place for me to promote more of the activities being organised for local people in the park – so pop down for a cuppa and a chat sometime soon!”
