Ilkeston Town Centre

A social club for adults with special needs has been started in Ilkeston.

The group called Forever Friends meets monthly at the Cantelupe Centre, next to St Mary’s Church, Market Place.

Started by Natasha Naylor and Mandy Lane last November, it offers people with learning difficulties and other disabilities a place where they can ‘be themselves’.

Natasha says: “This is something I am passionate about as I have known a few of the members for many years and I know they find it hard to socialise and feel safe and comfortable in certain environments. The group and setting enables them to relax and have fun.”

Activities include disco, pool, bingo and crafts. There is wheelchair access and members can buy snacks, tea, coffee and soft drinks from a tuck shop.
The next meeting is Tuesday 14th March, 7pm.
