An innovative Christmas Treecycling service has raised over £3000 for local charity Treetops Hospice Care.

Over 290 trees were collected by a team of Treetops volunteers and staff with vans on 7 and 8 January from postcode areas across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Collections were made in return for a donation towards the hospice which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families.

In only its second year, the Treecycling service proved so popular that registrations had to close early as fundraising assistant, Jodie Minter explained:

“We were overwhelmed by the wonderful response to the Treecycling service and it has helped us raise a significant amount of money for our services.

“We want to say a huge thanks to everyone who’s been involved – especially all our volunteers and their vans as we simply couldn’t have done this without them.

“We’re looking forward to building the service up to be even bigger and more successful next year!”

Treetops Hospice Care services are provided for free and include Support and Information, Day Care, Hospice at Home and Therapeutic Services including counselling and complementary therapies.
