Erewash residents wanting to get fit for Christmas have the chance to take part in free outdoor exercise classes at Ilkeston’s Victoria Park.
The one hour morning workouts in the parkland setting will run every Saturday in November thanks to a partnership between Erewash Borough Council and JT Fitness.
The Bootcamps are aimed at encouraging people to get fit in a positive way and are a great chance for people to try a form of exercise that is good for the mind and body – while also offering the feelgood benefits of exercising outside.
Anyone can attend the November Saturday classes for free and there is no need to pre-book. The class will meet outside the Manor Health and Racquets Club in the Victoria Leisure Centre car park, Ilkeston at 9.30am every Saturday in November and then move over to the adjacent park.
Victoria Park’s Community Ranger Helen Mitchem organises a wide variety of activities within the park as part of the wider heritage project that is taking place. The council secured £740,800 from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund for the restoration of its key features, including the bandstand, bowls pavilion and the provision of impressive new entrance gates.
