On Saturday 26 November, adults and children are being invited to dress up in festive costumes and take part in a fun run around Beeston for local charity Treetops Hospice Care.

The 5km sponsored fun run will take place around the town starting in Broadgate Park and finishing in The Square where there will be a variety of Christmas stalls and rides, refreshments and a chance to meet Santa in his Grotto.

The festive Fun Run is one of several Christmas events being organised by Treetops which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Mary Rose, senior community and events fundraiser, explained how exciting the event will be:

“This is our first big festive event in Beeston and it will be so exciting to see everyone get on board, dressing up as their festive favourite and just having a great time – all for a very worthwhile cause.

“We can’t wait to see a street full of Santas, elves, trees, Christmas presents and snowmen running through the town centre – it will be a brilliant sight!

“This is a sponsored event so we’re asking everyone who takes part to try to raise as much sponsorship money as possible, but most of all to come along, bring the family and have fun.”

On the day, local Beeston businesses will also be getting into the festive spirit with employees donning Christmas hats, holding raffles in-store and decorating shop windows. NET (Nottingham Express Transit) will be offering discounted family tram tickets of £5 to help transport people to the festive fun.

The Festive Fun Run begins at 10am with Christmas stalls from 10am to 4pm. Those interested in taking part can register online:www.treetopshospice.org.uk/funrun.

Early Bird fun run tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for children until Monday 31 October. After this date, the price goes up to £12 for adults and £10 for children.
