Dust down the needles, dig out the wool . . . Erewash Museum will again celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday 18 June when local knitters can join crafts people across the world who will all be knitting at the same time!

The unique event was started in 2005 with the aim of offering the chance for knitters, loomers and crochet fans to get to know like-minded people and to swap techniques and ideas – and also show the world that knitting is a relaxing pastime everyone can do, not just grannies.

The Museum’s gardens are the perfect setting for a free Big Knit event in Erewash between 11am and 3pm, with those going along encouraged to take a picnic or enjoy some light refreshments from the newly-opened Old Stables Tea Room.

Expert knitters will be on hand to offer tips and advice and show off their latest projects, while beginners can try their hand at knitting for the first time.

Residents can find out more about the worldwide knit event at www.wwkipday.com
