Erewash Borough Council’s new grants scheme has been launched this week, a new initiative aimed at supporting projects in the borough’s villages and rural communities.
All 13 Parish Councils within Erewash are encouraged to apply for a slice of the £62,500 moneypot that has been made available for this year as part of the Rural Community Grant Scheme.
The new funding scheme is aimed at supporting parishes with projects, such as support for buildings, equipment, regeneration, improvements to open spaces or other plans that will have a positive impact on people’s lives in the rural areas.
Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, says:
“We are delighted to have launched our new scheme this week and are looking for applications for projects that will make a difference to our rural communities. We appreciate and value the work of local Parish Councils in our communities in what are financially challenging times for many. We wanted to show our commitment to support them by making money available for worthwhile projects. We look forward to ‘granting’ as many wishes as we can.”
The council has invested £250,000 in total to be made available under the Rural Community Grant Scheme over the next four years.
Applications are encouraged from Parish Councils for capital projects, and to ensure funds are spread across the borough only one bid per parished area will be considered initially. The deadline for applications for a share of this year’s £62,500 fund is 5.30pm on Friday 4 December 2015.
